Shudders In A Whisper - As I plough through the “Smuggler’s Cove - Exotic Cocktails, Rum, And the Cult of Tiki” book, I am consistently breaking new ground with different spirits and drink accents. This one is my first with a Scotch base spirit in Drambuie. Drambuie is a golden-coloured, 40% ABV liqueur made from Scotch whisky, heather honey, herbs and spices. The brand was owned by the MacKinnon family for a hundred years but was bought by William Grant & Sons in 2014. Now, while the amount of Drambuie is small in this drink, the result is unmistakable. It roves just under the surface and let’s you know of some mischief to come! A mere “Whisper”. Brugal 1888 Doblemente Añejado is a truly exceptional rum, produced in the Dominican Republic and combining the rich flavours of bourbon and sherry casks through a double-ageing process.

In a Stainless Steel mixing tin of crushed ice and 4-6 “Agitator” cubes add:

• Fresh Lime Juice

• Passion Fruit Syrup

• Bruegel 1888 Dominican Rum

• Mathilde Poire - Pear Liqueur

• Drambuie Liqueur

• Q Spectacular Club Soda

• Peychaud’s Bitters

• Angostura Aromatic Bitters

  Flash blend and open pur into your favorite Tiki mug.

• Garnish with an Edible Orchid and Mint Sprig. Enjoy!
