The Jungle Bird made its recipe-book debut in 1989, when it appeared in “The New American Bartender's Guide” by John J. Poister.
In this version I used the rare 50th Anniversary Black Tot Rum. This rum commemorates the last day that rum offered as a daily ration in the British Navy, on July 31st, 1970. The blend includes rums from Guyana, Jamaica, Barbados, Trinidad and more.
Add all the ingredients to a drink mixer tin. Fill with 12 oz of crushed ice. Flash blend and open pour with gated finish into your best pearl diver glass. Garnish with a banana “Jungle Bird”. Enjoy!
2 oz Pineapple Juice
.5 oz Fresh Lime Juice
.5 oz Demerara Syrup
.75 oz Campari
1.5 oz 50th Anniversary Black Tot Rum
